How to Scan Tickets at Your Event or Project

CUR8 provides two distinct methods for scanning tickets at the door:

1) Scanning as a Logged-In User

2) Sharing a URL for one-time ticket scanners.

Outlined below are the two paths for using CUR8’s check-in system. Each method is designed to fit different needs, whether you have a dedicated team managing ticketing or simply need to scan tickets quickly and efficiently.

You may even find that a mix of both is the best choice - your core box office team has CUR8 logins, while your occasional volunteers are one-time scanners.

Logged-in CUR8 User (Recommended for Box Office Teams)

The Logged-in user option is ideal for box office teams that handle ticket purchases and need access to more than just ticket scanning. This method allows your team to scan tickets and perform additional box office tasks such as processing ticket purchases and looking up tickets.

  • Logging In: On your device’s web browser, log in to your CUR8 account.
  • Accessing Check-In Option #1:
    • Select the Project Poster to go to the Project Landing Page
    • Scroll down to the calendar and select the project date.
    • In Schedule, navigate to and select the date for the Check-In.
    • Tap the triple-dot menu on the event date and choose Check-In System.
  • Scanning Tickets:
    • Once you're at the check-in screen, your device may prompt you to grant permission for the camera to be used with CUR8.
    • You must allow access to scan.
    • Scan the QR code on the ticket. The system will either:
      • Check in the ticket, or
      • Notify you if the ticket has already been checked in or is invalid for the performance.
    • A 3-second delay between scans ensures smooth operation.

Permissions Required:

For a project to be scanned as a logged-in user, you must have one of these permission levels:

  • admin,
  • ticketing manager on that project
  • box office sales on that project

Shareable URL (Quick Access for One-Time Scanners)

You can generate a Shareable URL for faster check-in processes or when your team only needs to scan tickets for a specific event date. This option is great for one-off ticket scanners who don’t need access to the full box office functionality of CUR8.

  • Device Requirements: Check that the device you’re using has a camera and that the software is up-to-date.
  • Get the URL:
    • Navigate to your Project Poster and select the hamburger menu in the lower left corner.
    • Select Check-In System.
    • Choose the date for scanning.
    • Click Share URL to copy the link automatically.
  • Sharing the URL:
    • Send the URL to your ticket scanning team.
    • When they open the link, they’ll be prompted to allow CUR8 to access their device's camera.
  • Scanning Tickets:
    • Scan the QR code on each ticket. The system will:
      • Check in the ticket, or
      • Notify if the ticket has already been checked in or is invalid for that performance.
    • A 3-second delay between scans allows for smooth operation.

Notes for One-Time Scanners

  • The URL is only valid within 24 hours of the event’s date and time.
  • If the URL doesn’t work, confirm the camera permissions are granted and that the link is within the valid 24-hour scanning window.

Common Troubleshooting Tips

  • Scan Delays: There is a 3-second delay between scans. Please encourage your team to scan steadily to avoid errors.
  • Camera Permissions: Both methods require camera access. If there are issues with scanning, double-check that permissions are granted on the device.
  • URL Validity: If you're using the shareable URL, ensure the scan happens within 24 hours of the event time. If the link is outside of this window, it will not function.
  • Device Requirements: Your device must have up-to-date software for the scanning feature to work smoothly.

Additional Common Questions

Do I need an app to use the CUR8 check-in system?

No, you don’t need to download an app. The system works directly through your mobile device’s browser.

Can the same shareable URL be used for multiple project dates on the same project?

You can use the same URL; however, scanning by a non-logged-in user can only be completed on the day of the event.

What happens if the ticket has already been checked in?

If the ticket has already been scanned, the system will notify the user that it has been checked in or is invalid for the event.
