What is the Content Builder?

It is an editor that allows you to create Engagements (marketing emails) by dragging and dropping content blocks such as images, text, buttons, and more. It’s user-friendly and ideal for those who prefer a more visual approach to email design.

You can start by using the blank Content Builder, or you can explore the template sections for inspiration or as a jumping-off point.

You can find it in Connect under the Create New Engagement or Create New Template section.

Where is the Content Builder?

Once you're in Connect for your organization, you'll find the Content Builder in the 'Your Content' section under Create New Engagement and also Create New Template.

This is a blank Content Builder:

Exploring the Left Side of the Content Builder

Building your Engagement or Template with the Content Builder is easy. Drag and drop the desired elements from the left panel into the blank content area to create your design.

  • Content
  • Blocks
  • Body
  • Images

Content Section

Content Tab Section

  • Columns: Allows admins to add multiple columns to their design for improved layout and organization of content.
  • CUR8 Link: If you've created any tracking tokens, you can use this to add them to your engagement.
  • Button: Enables the addition of customizable buttons to emails, with options to change colors, styles, and links.
  • Divider: Adds spacing or visual separation between sections of the design, enhancing layout clarity.
  • Heading: Allows admins to add headings (levels 1-6) to structure and emphasize key sections of the design.
  • Text: A built-in tool for adding and formatting text within the design, supporting various font styles and sizes.
  • Image: insert images to make engagements more visually appealing and personal.
  • Social: Provides a simple way to add social media icons with links to the organization's social profiles.
  • HTML: Offers the flexibility to add custom HTML code, enabling advanced design and functionality.

Note: If you've created tokens for tracking, you can click on the item you want to embeed a token in. The content window will open to the left and you'll select the Destination Token.

Blocks Section

Blocks are essentially empty shelves you can place your content in and act as the foundational grid for your layout. Rather than holding actual text or images right away, they help you determine the spatial arrangement of the row, such as a single full-width column, two columns, three columns, or four columns.

You build the email's layout by dragging these blank blocks from the menu and dropping them into the main content window to provide structure and organization as you're building your engagement.

  • Text Color: allows admins to customize the color of text.
  • Background Color: Set the background color for the entire engagement or specific sections to match branding
  • Content Area Width: Adjust the content area's width to ensure the design looks great on different screen sizes.
  • Content Alignment: controls text positioning or elements within a section, such as left, center, or right alignment.
  • Font Family: To maintain consistent typography throughout the engagement, select a global font.
  • Font Weight: adjusts the thickness of the text from regular to bold.
  • Link Style: Define the color and style of hyperlinks.

Images Section

The Images tab allows you to search millions of photos to quickly help build content if you need visual support. These images are powered by platforms like Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay, and are fully licensed under Creative Commons Zero, meaning they are completely free and safe to use in your emails.

While the stock library is a convenient, ready-to-use resource, you are absolutely welcome to upload and include your own photos to customize your message.

Navigating the Top Section of the Content Builder

There are a few key features that we will explore across the top of your content builder canvas.

Getting Started without a Template

When you first see the builder, the canvas will appear blank with a note saying ‘No content here, drag content from left.’

To begin, click the 'Add Row' button to add a column structure to your design.

Once you have a column, you can drag and drop content blocks directly into the column area from the left panel, such as text, images, or buttons. This feature makes building and customizing your engagement layout easy without coding. You can also add more columns to build your engagements.

Below is an example of two rows with columns added. On the left is the editor builder without content, and on the right is the modified content layout.
