Where to find Create New Engagement
To create a new engagement, go to the manage menu at the top of CUR8, select Connect, select Create New Engagement.
Getting Started
Creating a new engagement (email) is simplified into four main steps:
selecting your audience
naming your engagement and email subject
creating and building your content
scheduling the delivery for now or later
At the top of each new engagement, we include the 4 steps to help you.
Step 1: Choose Your Recipients
Your email audience in CUR8 Connect is broken down into three categories:
Attendees: People who have purchased tickets to your events, or flexpasses, merch, etc.
Participants: Internal CUR8 users within your organization.
Subscribers: Outside email addresses you have imported into the system via .CSV or manual entry.
After selecting an audience group, you can choose specific projects or events to include. If no filters are selected, the engagement will be sent to everyone in that group.
Targeting Your Audience
You can filter both Attendees and Participants by specific projects. For example, if you are announcing a new musical, you can select the past three musicals you’ve hosted and send a targeted message specifically to Attendees who bought tickets to those shows. Similarly, if you are holding auditions, you can filter your internal Participants by past shows to directly email your previous cast and crew members.
What if I have someone whose email is entered in multiple places?
If an attendee exists in multiple categories (e.g., they are a Participant and they bought tickets as an Attendee), do not worry about spamming them. CUR8 automatically "deduplicates" your list. That person will only receive one email, and you will only be charged one CUR8 credit for that recipient.
Step 2: Name Your Engagement
You will need to provide two titles:
Internal Title: This is for your records only (e.g., "Fall 2026 Musical Auditions").
Email Subject: This is the actual subject line your recipients will see in their inbox.
Step 3: Build Your Content
Connect features a drag-and-drop content builder. You can start completely from scratch in Your Content, or you can browse pre-built layouts under the Templates tabs. You have access to organization templates you've created as well as templates provided by CUR8 or shared from other organizations.
Please note: If you choose to use a template from this screen, you must click the Use Template button to pull it into your builder so you can edit it.
Step 4: Schedule and Send
Test First: Before sending to your full list, we highly recommend using the Send Test Engagement feature. This allows you to send a preview to yourself or a colleague to verify formatting and test all links. Test emails will include "[Preview]" in the subject line.
When you are ready, review the Audience Summary box. This will display your total recipients and the required CUR8 credits to send the engagement. If you do not have enough credits, this box will turn red, and you will be prompted to purchase more credits before you can proceed.
Choose Send Now to deliver immediately, or use the calendar tools to Schedule the engagement for a future date and time.
I'm seeing Send Test Engagement and Send grayed out?
This means something is missing from the engagement that is required. Scroll back up and check that you've selected recipients and you've entered a Subject for your email.
