What is a Location?
A Location is a specific physical space that is used by your community.
In its simplest terms, a location is just that—a real, physical place you can go to. CUR8's Location is exactly that—the spaces and places that support a specific need of your Organization's community and provide a setting where activities like practice, rehearsal, meetings, or any other gathering can occur.
What types of Locations are there?
There are (3) types of Locations on CUR8.
- Generic (Non ticketed space)
- General Admission Venue (Ticketed)
- Reserved Seating Venue (Ticketed)
Each type of Location has its own icon within your Location List.
You may have a single Locations that function as all three Location Types.
What are some Location examples?
The examples for a location are infinite and entirely unique to your organization.
For instance, do you have a courtyard at your school that everyone knows referred to as "The Yard"? Do you have a weightlifting room that is named after a benefactor? You may have two theatre spaces and a rehearsal space. Or a fieldhouse or two different practice fields? You likely have locations with specific names or titles and then have locations with generic identifiers (like the lobby) or a colloquial term.
Your Locations list might look like this:
- "The Yard" (Courtyard)
- Don B. Smith Weightlifting Room
- Dave Johnson Memorial Fieldhouse
- Skyhawks Stadium
- Joan C. Edwards Theatre (proscenium)
- JCE stage
- The Black Box (flex space)
- The upstairs rehearsal space
- band hallway
- front lobby
- side lobby
- Hopewell Sports Complex
- Capital High School Cafeteria
- Leftfield Auditorium
- Monroe Garden and Event Center
- The student union
- Capital High Costume Shop
Your Locations are your gathering places. These are places that play a vital role in your organization's goals, be it practicing, rehearsing, game night, opening night, or the evening of the 27th Annual Awards for Teacher of the Year.
How are Locations used?
Locations can either be ticketed locations for your Projects or they can be used in calendar events to inform your community where a practice, rehearsal, or any other non-ticketed event is taking place.
- A Generic Location can be used for generic calender events.
- A Generic Location cannot be used for ticketed projects, both general admission or reserved.
- If you have a General Admission Project or a Reserved Seating Project, you must have corresponding Location Types.
- An admin can convert a Generic Location to a General Admission Location or Reserved Seating Location.
- Once a Project has been published with a ticketed Location, that Location cannot be changed to another Location type.
- This means a Reserved Seating (RS) Location, once attached to a published project, cannot be converted to a General Admission (GA) Location.
- And vice versa - a GA Location, once published with a project, cannot be converted to an RS Location.
- Any ticketed location can also be used with a generic calendar event.
One of my Locations will sometimes be used as a General Admission Ticketed Location and sometimes as a Reserved Seating Location. Do I need to create two different Locations for a single space?
Yes.
You'll need to create two locations - one for each location type. Each location type will be delineated in the location list.
Can I use a ticketed location for a General Calendar Event?
Yes.
Can I delete a Location?
No, but you can hide a Location. Hiding a Location makes it unavailable for use on Projects, Schedule, and Communication.
To hide a Location go to your Location List, Select the Location, Select Edit Location, Scroll to the bottom and choose the eye to hide the location for an an organization
