Why does CUR8 need a W9 and where should I submit it?

At CUR8, we take platform security seriously and carefully review all organizations that sign up to use our service. The W-9 form helps us identify customers and confirm their status as legitimate organizations. It's a requirement from the IRS that we collect a W-9 from anyone we do business with.

The legal entity name on your W-9 should be related to the organization name you used for your CUR8 account. By default, your CUR8 organization name will also be the payee name on your payout checks, as well as the organization name presented to the public. If we have any questions, someone from our accounting department will reach out to clarify.
  • A blank W-9 form can be downloaded from the IRS website here.
  • You can submit a PDF of your W-9 to support@CUR8.com.
  • We cannot pay out for your event without a W-9 on file.
  • Hard checks are mailed to the Billing Contact at the address listed in your CUR8 account’s Billing/Banking Preferences.
  • For our Canadian market, you are not required to provide a W-9. Please reach out to support@cur8.com for further questions.
Please note that all companies (us) are required to supply their clients (you), including tax-exempt and nonprofits, that exceeded the reporting threshold with a 1099-K annually.
  • This is a common IRS reporting document and is not a tax bill.
  • The 1099-K form reports gross credit card sales. If your organization exceeds the reporting threshold, we will be required to have your W-9 so we can supply the 1099-K. If you do not exceed the reporting threshold for a given year, no 1099-K is required.

Failure to provide a W-9 will delay payments and may cause IRS backup withholding to occur.
