CUR8 makes it easy for your attendees to support your organization beyond ticket sales. During checkout, attendees can add a donation to their order. You can also accept donations year-round with a dedicated donation-only link, even when no events are on sale.
Donation Fees: CUR8 does not take box office/streaming fees from donations. A 3.5% processing fee applies.
Turning Donations On or Off
Donations are managed at the organization level. If donations are turned ON, they will be available for all projects. Attendees will have the option to donate when purchasing tickets from your organization.
To manage donations:
Go to the Organization Menu (top left)
Select the Organization (if you are connected to multiple)
Select Preferences
Select Options
Under Accept Donations, choose Yes or No
Click Update (top right)
Note: CUR8 Default Donation Setting is to ON.
Donation-Only Link (No Project Required)
If you want to accept donations without creating a project, you can share your dedicated donation link at any time. The link is always active and can be shared in emails, on social media, on your website, or turned into a QR code for printed materials.
To find your donation link:
Go to the Organization Menu.
Select the Organization (if you are connected to multiple)
Select Preferences/Settings
Select Options
Scroll to the Donation section
On the left, under On-Screen Donation Message, copy the URL provided
Donation Payouts
Donation revenue is included with your normal project payouts. You’ll receive all net donations (after the 3.5% processing fee) that are available, whether you receive the 95% or 5% payout
Donations are not tied to specific projects
Donations do not trigger payouts on their own
If donations come in while no project is active, the funds will accumulate
If you need those funds paid out early, just let us know by emailing support@cur8.com, and we’ll process them for you.
Personalize Your On-Screen Donation Messaging & Receipts
You can customize:
On-Screen Donation Message: appears in the cart at checkout. This can be a great place to discuss your season, how their support has impacted your organization in the past, or a fundraising goal you're working toward.
Donation Receipt: The message accompanying the donation receipt that is emailed to attendees after the donation. This is intended as an opportunity for you to express your appreciation for their donation.
We strongly recommend personalizing both donation messages.
If you are a 501(c)(3) and you want donors to be able to use the donation receipt email we send for tax deductions, then:
Identify your organization
State that your organization is a 501(c)(3)
State that no goods or services were provided in exchange for this donation
The IRS requires donors to have a receipts if:
A single donation is $250+, or
A donor’s combined donations total $250+ in a year
Accessing the Donation Report
You can download a complete record of all donations made through your CUR8 account.
To access:
Open the Organization Menu.
Select the Organization (if you are connected to multiple)
Select Accounting
Choose Donation Report
A .csv file will be downloaded containing donor name, email, donation amount, and more.
Remember: Donations are tracked at the Organization level, not per project. Only organization admins can view/download this report.
