Creating and Managing Connect Templates

Templates save you from recreating the same engagements (emails) over and over again. By navigating to Manage Templates, you can browse, edit, and organize email layouts.

If you do not want to use an existing template design and create your own instead, you can always click Create New Template at the top of the page to build a brand-new layout from a blank slate.

Otherwise, you can filter and choose from three existing template categories.

Types of Templates

  • CUR8 Templates: A library of ready-to-use designs provided by CUR8. These are displayed first so you never have to feel overwhelmed by starting from a blank page.

  • Organization Templates: Templates you have built from scratch or modified and saved for your organization's future use.

  • Shared Templates: Templates shared securely between two different organizations.

Using and Editing Templates

When you find a template you like, click the menu icon (the three lines) next to it. You will see three options, all of which safely allow you to utilize the template design.

Create New Engagement with Template:

This immediately drops the template into a brand-new engagement draft so you can start adding your audience and schedule.

Preview to Edit:

Opens the template so you can view it and make changes.

If you Preview to Edited a CUR8 Template, you will only be given the option to "Save a Copy," which forces the system to save your customized version into your Organization Templates without altering the CUR8 master file.

Duplicate New to Edit:

Allows you to immediately copy the template, rename it (e.g., "Annual Fundraiser Layout"), and make edits.

If you're editing your own organization template, the menu will have a few extra options.

Preview to Edit

If you choose Preview to Edit on an Organization Template, you'll have a couple options to pay attention to. You can click Update to overwrite the existing template with your new changes, or click Save a Copy to duplicate it as a separate file.

View Stats

Review stats for that specific template's usage, such as times used, what engagements it was used on, etc.

Share

This option is for sharing this template to another organization. You may consider doing this if you work closely with another organization. You'll need their organization code from them to share the template to them.

Delete

This removes the template from your library. Once the template has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. If the template had been used in engagement, it may be possible to review Sent engagements to see if you can duplicate it back into templates.

Sharing Templates Between Organizations

Share promoting, not contacts. Connect makes it easy to team up without exposing your audience data.

  • For example, a high school can share a pre-built promotional template with a local community theatre, allowing the community theatre to promote the show without ever sharing its subscriber database.

  • Another example: your high school's music, theatre, and dance departments are hosting a performing arts showcase together, one department can build the template and share it with the other two departments. This way, everyone sends the exact same campaign to their own lists.

How to Share a Template:

  1. The receiving organization must provide you with their unique organization code.

  2. Inside your template manager, paste their code into the Share field on the template you wish to send them.

  3. Click Validate to verify that the code belongs to the correct organization.

  4. Click Share.

The template will then appear in the receiving organization's account, ready to be sent to their specific audience. If you ever need to revoke this access, you can delete the shared connection from your menu, which will remove the template from their account.

This is the code you would give to another organization so they can share their template with you.

If you have a code from another organization, find the template you want to share with them, then select the menu and then select "Share". You'll enter their code, validate it's the correct organization and that's it!
