Understanding Participant Designation

Participant Designation is a feature that allows admins to give credit where credit is due—literally.

Formerly known as Artist Credit, Participant Designation lets attendees dedicate their purchase (tickets, donations, or shout-outs) to a specific individual involved in the project. It’s a way for your community to support their favorite performers, artists, athletes, or team members directly, while also giving your organization valuable insights into who is driving engagement and sales.

What It Does

When Participant Designation is enabled, a new field will appear at checkout. This field allows attendees (or admins making purchases on their behalf) to select a person from a drop-down list and dedicate the transaction to them.

CUR8 will then track:

  • Ticket sales
  • Number of tickets sold
  • Shout-out purchases
  • Donations
  • Total dollar amount credited to each participant

These designations are compiled into a Participant Designation Report, which is available for download per project by administrators.

How to Enable Participant Designation on a Project

  • Go to your Project Poster
  • Click the hamburger menu (☰) and select Edit Project.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Show Management Features. This will expand additional features beyond Ticketing that you can enable.

  • Look for the checkbox labeled Allow Participant Designation at Checkout.
  • Check the box
If this option is grayed out, it means no people have been added to roles on this project. You’ll need to assign people to project roles first.
  • Select Save & Publish

Once enabled, Participant Designation will only appear in carts for projects where it has been enabled.

What Attendees Will See

Participant Designation appears during the checkout process, in the Add-On section, as a drop-down menu. Attendees will be able to:

  • Choose from a list of people assigned to the project
  • Designate their purchase to one person per transaction

Note: You must have at least one item (ticket, donation, or shout-out) in your cart to see the designation option.

How to View the Participant Designation Report

To view how credit is being distributed:

  • Go to your Project Poster
  • Click the hamburger menu (☰) and choose Reports
  • Select Participant Designation Report

This will download a CSV file showing:

  • Participant name
  • Total ticket sales
  • Number of tickets sold
  • Shout-outs purchased
  • Total sales credited
