CUR8 offers three event-streaming options: live and pre-recorded. This article outlines the differences between each type.

If your event involves licensing, review your contract to confirm which streaming options are permitted.

Three types of streaming:

  1. Live Stream: a live, real-time event being broadcast to your viewers
  2. Scheduled Content (SC): a pre-recorded event that plays at a specific date/time
  3. Video on Demand (VOD): a pre-recorded on Demand Event.

1. Live Stream (LS)

A real-time event streamed from a venue or virtual platform (Zoom, StreamYard, etc.) with a specific date and start time.

  • Event is streamed live (not pre-recorded).

  • RTMP credentials are provided for your streaming software.

  • Viewers cannot pause, rewind, or fast-forward.

  • Live chat is available for audience engagement.

2. Scheduled Content (SC)

A pre-recorded event that CUR8 streams automatically on the date(s) and time(s) you choose.

  • Viewers watch together at the scheduled time using an access code

  • Video file must be uploaded in a supported format.

  • Final video must be fully uploaded within 3 hours of the scheduled stream.

  • Viewers cannot pause or rewind; access ends when the stream ends.

  • Live chat is available.

3. Video on Demand (VOD)

A pre-recorded event streamed to attendees on demand.

  • Sales dates and video availability can be set independently.

  • Video must be fully uploaded within 2 hours of the video availability start time.

  • Attendees have 48 hours of access from the moment they begin watching.
(This may be shorter based on availability dates)

  • The 48-hour viewing window is a platform rule and cannot be adjusted.

Notes:

  • If you only need one day of streaming, Scheduled Content may be a better fit.

  • If offering less than 48 hours of viewing, clearly communicate this to attendees
(e.g., “24 HOURS ONLY” in the event title and description).

Can I use more than one project type for a single event?

Yes.

You can use one project type or combine multiple types for the same event. For example, you might live-stream opening weekend, then upload the edited recording as scheduled content the following weekend. Or you could offer scheduled content for opening night and a separate video-on-demand option afterward.

You can also pair an in-person event with a streaming event.

If your event involves licensing, be sure to review your contract to confirm which streaming options are permitted.
